No Update

Not today, at least.  Sorry.  😦

This is just to tell you guys that I’ll be taking a break from simming for a little bit to focus on the rest of this semester.  I’ll be studying and attempting to nail down my thesis topic, so I should really focus.

The Mayfields will continue to be updated, as I have quite a few chapters in reserve now (our next family head is adorable).  However, I’m all caught up to in game for the Diabolicals, so you’ll have to wait for them.  I’m not saying I’ll drop off the face of the earth, just that if I do post, it’ll be sporadic at best and non-existent at worst until the holidays.

I am sorry.  I was really getting into playing and writing the Diabolicals.  But I guess, we’ll all have to wait to see what Goodie Snow and Magno Volt look like as children.

Speaking of the newest Diabolicals, check out the awesome genetic diversity of generation 3!

Three different skin tones, two different noses, two different mouths, three different hair colors (Magno Volt actually has very dark brown hair, not black – I think its from Hans) and two different eye shapes!  All to create three very different toddlers!  8D  I love genetic diversity.  Not gonna lie, though, if we could keep these narrow, Diabolical eyes in the family for another generation, I’ll be so happy.

Also, these kids all now have their own pages over in the Diabolical Who’s Who guide.  And the Score has been updated as well, to reflect more portraits painted and the new generation.  Woo!

Okay, I’ve got some papers to read.  Nice seeing you and I hope we’ll chat soon!  Thanks for reading!  ^_^

An-Ni-Mal! Award.

Ooh!  Shiny!  Yoink!

Animal Award

Quackermole of the Frosted Legacy, where abounds silliness in spades, nominated me for the Spirit Animal Award*!  Thank you!  ^_^

Animal Award Acceptance Rules:

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you, and link back to their page.
  • Post the award picture on your blog (image by ixot)
  • Write a short paragraph about yourself
  • Write about what your blog means to you
  • If you could be an animal, what would you be and why?
  • Nominate 10 other lovely peoples!

The resident Fluffmeister is a 23-year-old recent university graduate.  She was given two bachelor degrees in mathematics and physics with a specialty in astrophysics, god knows why.  For some unfathomable reason, she’s choosing to go back to school for a master’s in mathematics!  Talk about crazy!  She adores cats, dogs and the idea of birds, while having some odd fascination with frogs.  She was raised Christian, converted to Atheism, and finally realized she just doesn’t care enough one way or another.  Meh.  (My mantra.)  In real life, she is often quoted saying, “Don’t even worry about it!  :D”

She writes a sims 3 legacy blog centered around the diabolical deeds of incredibly evil sims.  It looked like fun.  That’s why she’s doing it.  She should really finish captioning screenshots so she can go play generation 2.  >.>

If FluffyMao could be any animal, she’d probably go with a lazy house cat, because cat’s have no obligations and they give zero fucks.

As for an actual relateable animal, after a ridiculous amount of quizzes with varying degrees of accuracy (seriously, all those quizzes sucked and were completely stupid), she settled on the Coyote.

Apparently the spirit animal of the Coyote represents wisdom in trickery, adaptability, and not taking everything seriously, while being paradoxical.  All things are sacred, and yet nothing is sacred.  Damn.  Where have you been all my life*?

FluffyMao has been told she’s pretty adaptable.  She just figures that’s what happens when your entire life is uprooted every other year throughout the course of your childhood.  You learn to adapt.  Or you go cry in a corner.  Whichever.

She doesn’t think she’s especially wise, but apparently she gives good advice in roundabout ways.  Maybe that’s why she can never follow her own advice.

She doesn’t like taking things seriously.  She CAN.  And she DOES when it needs doing.  But she believes the world would be a better place if everyone loosened their britches a bit, so she tries to lead by example.  Because sometimes people have their panties in such a twist that it gets shoved up their asses and they need some friendly guidance.  ^_^

This choice of spirit animal has nothing whatsoever to do with Wile E Coyote.  Nope, nothing at all.  >.>

The Dysfunkshinul Legacy — a tongue-in-cheek ride of no fucks given by Gryffindork7.  Sorry man, I was in Slytherin.

The Rourke Epic Legacy — a legacy genetics melting pot by Somebodysangel13 that I only just started.  Already love!

The Freshman Legacy — a fun-filled patriarchy in good-old Sunset Valley!

The Loewe Legacy — an intriguing tale of a family of equestrians making it in Monte Vista

Eight Cicadas — an Immortal Dynasty challenge story that focuses on those grayer areas of morality

Sim Salad — An exploration of all the ways to kill a sim.  Quite educational!  😉

The Gordon Legacy — starts with an irresistible witch!  What’s not to like?  🙂

The Maitland Round-Robin Legacy — there’s a mouthful!  A legacy passed around some simmers from Boolprop.  Check it!

As Far as the World Goes — a sims 3 comic book absolutely packed with drama and intrigue.  Amazing.  Just amazing.

Legacies of the Sims — a very interesting tale of a young orphaned girl.  Veeeery interesting.  Beware the Sims 4.

.*: I made a whole spiel about the issues surrounding the title of this award over on my other blog, so feel free to read there if you’re interested in my non-conformist opinion.  XD

Some Kind of Update

Alrighty.  So, I’ve been gone a while.  Partly due to my laptop.  The hard drive died about a month ago, and I’m still wrangling with customer service to get it replaced.  It’s getting close to me just throwing my warranty out the window and replacing the thing myself!

And, I’ll be honest, partly because…I found more interesting things to do.  Before my hard drive gave out, I was playing Undertale and Stardew Valley and my Mayfields, all of which were more interesting than the Diabolicals at the time.

So, there’s that.  Sorry for the lack of update or explanation.  Most of you who read this also read the Mayfields, so I usually just put updates over there and assume everyone gets it.

As soon as I fix up my laptop, it’ll be back to weekly updates, I swear!  That’s not an empty promise!  I was so close to reaching Gen 2 in game!  Mori was nearing teenager-age and the girls were celebrating becoming YAs.

I guess this is to say: hang in there, the Diabolicals WILL return!

Ermahgerd!  Fiendlikequeen, author of the fantastic Bloodlines, nominated the Diabolical Legacy for the Liebster Award!  Thanks muchly!  ^_^  She’s got a great Sims 3 Legacy going on over there that you should totally check out!  It’s farther along than mine.

So, the Liebster Award is for bloggers by bloggers.  By that I mean that someone who is nominated for the award then nominates 5-11 other bloggers (with less than 200 followers) who then nominate 5-11 other bloggers (with less than 200 followers), etc.  There’s nothing that says you can’t nominate who nominated you, but I personally think the point of the award is to spread it around.  😉

So, once you’ve been nominated, you answer the questions asked by your nominator.  And once you’ve chosen & notified some blogs to nominate, then you get to ask them some questions!  Fun stuff!  ^_^

Questions for Me!

  • What do you enjoy most about writing?
    • Um…hmmm, never really analyzed it before.  I think I enjoy writing because I can communicate better through it than I can through speaking.  I’m not a great speaker.  I take a long time to respond to questions because I analyze everything that goes through my mind and people often become impatient with me.  I’m just afraid of saying the wrong thing to the wrong person.  Writing…I can take my time to find just the right words.  So, I guess I enjoy the lack of rushing.  ^_^
  • What’s your favourite medium, typed or paper/pen?
    • Hmmm…I will always love the feel of a good pen gliding over paper.  Nothing like it.  But a computer is a LOT more convenient.  And I don’t lose so many scraps of paper!  😉
  • Do you have any pets?
    • I wish.  Technically, yes.  A black lab, Nykki.  She was the runt of her litter, so even as an adult she’s a little small.  So cute!  Too big to pick up, but great for snuggling with.  🙂  I got her as a puppy, I think she was 3 weeks old, but left for college when she was almost 2 years.  She lives with my parents and younger sisters now, and has for quite a few years, so I’ve really given up all claim to her.  She’s happy there.  They have more room than I do and other dogs to play with.  I love her to bits, but I doubt she’d even recognize me now.  😦
  • Why did you start your blog?
    • To try my hand at the legacy challenge!  I’ve read a LOT of good ones (see sidebar thingey), and wanted to see what the fuss was about.  And to make sure I follow through, I started this blog.  ^_^
  • Favourite candy?
    • Chocolate!  Anything chocolate!  I don’t care much for white chocolate, too sweet, but anything else is great.
  • Have you received this award before?
  • What computer do you use, Mac or PC?
    • Honestly, I prefer a Mac and I probably always will.  But I use a PC currently.  I do love being able to play all the games I want and not have to hunt down, or worse make my own, wrappers for common PC applications.  But I do prefer the Mac OS X.  I like how seamlessly everything flowed together and how I ALWAYS knew what I was installing on my computer.  Apple willing provides detailed, understandable information on every update they send out.  Not little blurbs “oh, this is a security update idiot, trust me!”  😡  Argh!  *deep breath*  …I’m fine.
  • How much do you use social media?
    • …not much.  I read WordPress and I’ve got a tumblr lying around here somewhere, but that’s it.  Is YouTube social media?
  • Do you object to adult themes in stories (Sims blogs only)?
    • “Adult themes”…I’m not quite sure what you mean by that, but I’m assuming you mean stuff like sex, drugs, alcohol, rape, suicide, etc.  I don’t like the topics in general, they make me uncomfortable.  And if anything “adult” is attempted but poorly written, I will cringe and never look at your story again.  But if the scene is well-written, actually pulls out emotion, we’re cool.  I don’t like the topics, I used to just avoid discussions about them in real life unless directly involved.  I changed my ways for certain reasons.  But they’re a part of humanity and we can’t just sweep them under the rug.  Some of the best ways these “controversial” topics have been discussed is through writing and art.  I think it gives us a way to look at “adult” themes without…thinking too much, if that makes sense.  Writing and art give us that security blanket we need to feel safer about discussing these things.  And they need to be discussed, as much as they make us uncomfortable.
  • Favourite musician?
    • This’ll sound cliche, but I don’t really have a favorite musician.  I listen to a LOT of music, a lot of different music.  There are a few that have stuck with me for a few years, so I’ll list those.  Fallout Boy (unique sound), Christina Anguilera (I love her range), Audiomachine (epic music), Two Steps From Hell (EPIC music), Maroon 5 (again, awesome range), Death Cab for Cutie (the bf listens to it a lot and it’s grown on me; it’s…coffeehouse…if that makes sense :/ ), and pretty much any classical music (first genre of music I could really just retreat into my own mind and just think)…oh! And the Piano Guys from YouTube!
  • What country do you live in?
    • The United States of America!  As much as I don’t want to sometimes…  :/  Don’t get me wrong, the USA is a great place to live sometimes.  I mean, we have so many different climates and ecosystems in one country!  And they’re all beautiful in their own unique ways!  We have prairies and mountains and frozen wastelands and fiery wastelands (aka desert), and they’re filled with so many different kinds of people!  I love this place!  On the other hand…we’re constantly getting into fights with other countries…and NO free healthcare…and NO free education…no free education…  T_T

Bloggers I’m passing the stick to!

I’m trying not to repeat anything from my list on the Mayfields.

  • The Frosted Legacy:  It’s recently started up, but it’s pretty funny so far!  I love how inanimate objects take on personalities!  XD  I think with a bit of work and some extra readers, it could be incredibly awesome!  It’s a funny legacy that kicks off in the University world, something I haven’t seen before.
  • The Freshman Legacy: A legacy set in Sunset Valley, starring Marley Freshman and his dreams of a patriarchy.  It has a very sarcastic voice, and I like that.  Still in the early stages, but I’m loving it so far!  ^_^
  • The Bedlam ISBI:  Ah, ISBIs…my guilty pleasure.  XD  This one’s great!  I’ve loved every torchholder thus far and ALL the spares have just been hilarious!  Check it out!  This ISBI began in Midnight Hollow, but recently moved to Lunar Lakes.
  • Dayes of Our Lives:  This was the first legacy I ever read.  It’s still going on, even though there hasn’t been a post for a few months.  It’s not your average legacy.  It’s a try-everything legacy, and I do mean everything!  It’s by Radsimmer and has been on-going for a few years now.  They’ve got another legacy (completed) that’s very good as well: the Kyoti Legacy.  This legacy begins in Sunset Valley, but has moved through just about every world that has come out.
  • As Far as the World Goes:  This one’s incredibly interesting.  It’s not any kind of challenge and it’s not quite a “story”.  More of a graphic novel.  The blogger basically delves into the lives of some pre-made townie sims and gives them dialogue as they go about their lives.  The plot is…it’s very interesting, trust me.  Check it out!  ^_^
  • The Pollards:  By the almighty Ixot, this is an EPIC legacy of pure epicness.  XD  I love the characters in this story, they’re all very unique and distinct from one another.  Plus, the current world is absolutely beautiful!  An EPIC legacy that starts off in Rugged Harbor!  That view was beautiful!   ❤
  • Taken: Another of Radsimmer’s stories, but this one’s much more story than Sims 3.  It’s epic.  Completely finished.  Just read through it.  Brilliant.

There you go!  ^_^

Questions for You!

  • What is your favorite animal?
  • What is something you’re passionate about?  Something you really believe in?
  • How and when did you first come across the Sims?
  • What’s your preferred means of entertainment: books, movies, videogames, television, etc?
  • Tea or coffee…or hot cocoa?
  • Favorite food?
  • What is a quality you like in a partner?
  • If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
  • Can you believe it’s not butter?
  • When was the last time you played hookey (from work, school…significant others)?
  • What do you do when you sit down to write?  Do you get your mind ready in certain ways?

Woo!  Ready for Diabolical madness!  Yeah!  😀

GRE Stuffs

Just a head’s up, I’ll be gone from the sim-sphere for the next two weeks.  I’m taking my GRE Subject-Math test next Saturday and my GRE General test the Friday after that.  I’m not too worried about the General.  I’ve taken a practice and aced the math section.  Not even the english section screwed me!  So, yeah, not worried about that at all!  The Subject…T_T

There comes a point in your major when you understand the complex inner workings of the higher level stuff and you’re feeling pretty good, and then…calculus comes back to bite you in the ass!  T_T  The Math Subject is about 50% calculus…I’ve got the real analysis, I’ve got ODEs & PDEs, and abstract algebra is cake…but calculus

Anyway, enough of my bawling.  This was just to let you goes know where I’ve vanished to and about when I’ll be back.  My first day of freedom should be Halloween.  So maybe I’ll do something special.

Have a great day!  ^_^

Different Blog Theme

This is not the post you were hoping for.  Sorry to crush all your hopes and dreams.  Muhahahahahaha!  Ahem, Max must be rubbing off on me…>.>

1.3 - pic8

So, as you may have noticed, I’ve been doing a bit of editing to the blog layout.  If you didn’t notice, take a good long look at the title of this post.  I really like this theme, Suits, but I miss the nice red post titles of the Museum theme*.  Can’t have everything, I suppose.  Meh.

A new thing I’m trying out is having a Head of the Family picture off in the sidebar.  It’ll probably have a link to the Family page hidden in it or something.  *waves hand vaguely*  You can thank LilyShadowWriter of the Different Winters blog for giving me the idea (cough *completely stole it!* hack-cough).

Anywho, I’ve also added some Follow buttons and a Blog Roll to the sidebar.  If you would like your Sims blog listed, provide the link in the comments below and I’ll check it out.  I’d love new reading material!  ^_^

This was just a kind of an update post and a request for reader opinions.  If you dislike this theme, or just really preferred the previously used theme, or have different suggestions, say so in the comments.  The next chapter should be up in a bit.  I’m just having problems finding a certain picture and that picture is absolutely, 100%  ESSENTIAL!  No, really, it is!

*:  If anyone can tell me how to change that, you can has a cookie!  XD
